La Biennale internationale d’estampe contemporaine de Trois-Rivières est la seule exposition concours internationale en estampe à se tenir sur une base régulière au Canada. De ce fait, et par la qualité de ses présentations, elle devient une plaque tournante pour les artistes de cette discipline. Elle est pour eux l’événement le plus important au Canada, pour certains en Amérique du Nord.

Elle a comme mandat de promouvoir et de valoriser l’estampe contemporaine; une pratique artistique des plus riches, par la présentation d’œuvres d’artistes professionnels de tous les horizons. Présenté tous les deux ans, l’événement propose les recherches et les tendances actuelles en estampe, ce qui permet de découvrir des productions exceptionnelles, d’alimenter le milieu artistique d’ici et de se positionner au point de vue international.

La Biennale internationale d’estampe contemporaine de Trois-Rivières amène une réflexion sur la pratique. Elle nous offre un nouveau regard sur le monde de l’estampe contemporaine, chaque artiste sélectionné par le jury expose 5 à 7 œuvres qui illustrent sa démarche. La Biennale est plus qu’une visite, c’est une occasion unique de découvrir les tendances actuelles de cette pratique artistique. Elle permet à tous un accès privilégé à une culture mondiale, celle de l’estampe contemporaine.

Les PRIX

En plus du Prix du public, où le public est invité à devenir jury en votant pour l’artiste de son choix parmi les artistes présents à l’exposition concours, s’ajoutent le Grand Prix de la Biennale, le Prix de la Banque Nationale du Canada, le Prix de la Collection Loto-Québec, et le Prix Invitation Presse Papier.

La Biennale internationale d’estampe contemporaine de Trois-Rivières is the only international printmaking competition exhibition to be held on a regular basis in Canada. Because of both this and the quality of its exhibits it has become a central platform for artists in this discipline. For them it is the most important event in Canada, or even in North America.

Its mission is to promote and enhance the importance of contemporary printmaking, a particularly rich artistic practice, through the presenting of works of professional artists from all over the world. The event is held every two years and it proposes contemporary research and tendencies in printmaking, thus leading to the discovery of remarkable creations as well as nourishing the local artistic milieu and making a name for itself on the international stage.

La Biennale internationale d’estampe contemporaine de Trois-Rivières has initiated a reflection on printmaking practice. It offers a fresh look at the contemporary printmaking world, since each artist selected by the jury exhibits from 5 to 7 works, thus illustrating their research. The Biennale is more than just a visit, it is a unique occasion to discover the most recent tendencies of this artistic practice. It offers everyone a
privileged access to a worldwide culture, that of contemporary printmaking.

PRIZES

In addition to the Prix du public, where the public is invited to become the jury in voting for the artist of its choice amongst those shown in the competition exhibition, the following awards are offered: the Grand prix of the Biennale, the Prix de la Banque Nationale du Canada, the Prix Loto-Québec and the Prix Invitation Presse Papier.
