The paintings
of the artist illustrate the social concerns of our time. Mrs. Carle’s following
text shows it well. "When
I painted this picture Eau vive, in June 2003, I was not aware that the 7th
edition of Quebec Solidarity international would bear that theme: Let us choose
our world < water for all, all for water
>.
It is encouraging to see a concrete move, in order to draw the attention of
every one of us to this problem; the lack of drinkable fresh water.
In the newspaper
Le Soleil
dated November 8th, 2003, a cry of alarm is heard: water : source of
conflicts. It is mentioned, among other things, that the exhaustion of
resources will have economic effects on the whole planet. If the work Eau
vive refers to the 5 continents, Africa today, and by far, seems most
affected and vulnerable. You only have to think about all diseases, dryness and
other calamities the lack of water may bring.
We often hear that when
a whole group of artists decide to make things move, it gives results. It is
perhaps through them, wherever they come from, that we build a responsible
culture. This is why I would like to see artists from all fields illustrating
this problem (for example authors concocting a musical). Hopefully, their arts,
going through the 5 continents, would contribute to wake up the politicians, as
powerful as they are, with something else than war and then create a more
democratic humanity. Saving and sharing water could be the first step of a
lasting peace, and save this planet already so badly hurt."
